Membership

Lyme Trail Association (LTA) works through the support of our members and partners, and access to the LTA trail system is limited to active members.                                        


Members will receive an LTA Membership Fulfillment package, containing membership ID (to be worn at all times on LTA trails), parking tag, and Release of Liability form. You will also receive notifications regarding trail closures, volunteer opportunities and upcoming events. All notifications will be posted on the Lyme Trail Association website and be communicated via email.


Please note that all hikers and riders on the property must have submitted signed Release of Liability form. Riders also must have submitted negative coggins and proof of rabies for their horse. These forms may be left in the drop box that is on the kiosk in the parking area, emailed to info@lymetrailassociation.org or mailed to the Lyme Trail Association at 133 Mitchell Hill Road, Lyme CT 06371.  

                                      

LTA Rider Safety

All riders must wear a safety helmet with harness strap properly secured and proper footwear. Safety vests are recommended if jumping.


LTA Member Identification

Riders are required to wear their LTA medical equestrian arm/leg bands at all time.  Members on foot or cross country skies are required to carry or wear their LTA membership card.

Base Membership:

 

Base Members: Individuals or families may hike or cross-country ski on any LTA trails on non-event days. Base membership is $35 per year.  Feel free to log volunteer hours in support of the LTA trail system.

 

 

Day Visitor:

Day Rate: $25 per day/per person. Day visitor gains you foot or hooves access to the LTA trails for a day. All LTA Rules apply and liability waivers are required. The Day Rate fee may be placed in the drop box that is on the kiosk in the parking area.

 


Annual membership renewal fees are due on March 1st.
All membership dues go directly to funding the necessary personnel and equipment to expand and maintain trail systems. We thank you for your support.


Guest Policy:

 

Guest Policy: Members are allowed to accompany guests onto LTA managed properties. These guests may walk or ride the property one time only. If they would like to continue to enjoy our trails they need to either become a member or pay the Day Rate.  All LTA Rules apply and liability waivers are required.

 








Equestrian Membership Types:

Equestrian Memberships must pay a base fee of $35. With the base membership for Adult, Youth, Family equestrian memberships—you also get non-equestrian access for family members in the household.

Adult Equestrian: Single adult rider, age 18 and over. Base Membership plus an additional donation of $150 per year or minimum 15 volunteer hours per year.


Youth Equestrian: Single youth rider, under age 18. Base Membership plus an additional donation of $100 per year or minimum 10 volunteer hours per year.

 

Family Equestrian: Family of 2 or more equestrians, any ages. All family members must live at the same same address. Base Membership plus an additional donation of $200 per year or minimum 20 volunteer hours per year.


Professional Equestrian: Trainer or stable owner who intends to bring students to ride on LTA trails for schooling purposes. Base Membership plus an additional donation of $150 per year or minimum 15 volunteer hours per year.  Students need to either be members of the LTA or to pay the $25 Day Visitor fee.
 


Please note that all riders brought on the property must present signed Release of Liability form. negative coggins and proof of rabies for their horse, and wear armbands. Professionals must email info@lymetrailassociation.org for permission to bring students on property and name the LTA as insured by their liability policy.

                                               

The LTA is a non-profit organization approved for non-profit status under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and eligible to receive tax-deductible donations. Since no goods or services were provided in exchange the full amount of your gift is tax deductible under the IRS Code 501(c) (3).
